Our Fabric
The production of our clothes has far-reaching consequences for the environment. Contaminated wastewater, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution make textile production one of the biggest polluters.
However it doesn't have to be that way: If you rely on high-quality clothing instead of cheap mass production, you protect the environment. The choice of fiber also has an important influence on the sustainability of textiles, as each raw material has a different environmental impact.
What is Hemp?
An ancient but forgotten fiber is hemp. The plant is called the "sober" cousin of marijuana. Industrial hemp contains only tiny amounts of psychoactive substances and is therefore non-intoxicating. For thousands of years, hemp has been grown around the world to make clothing or rope.
What makes it the sustainable choice?
The ecological advantages of hemp are still convincing today. With good reason: hemp grows extremely fast and densely, which makes it an environment-friendly raw material. As the plant has evolved, it has found natural ways to keep out pests or competing plants. This has the advantage that hardly any herbicides or pesticides have to be used during cultivation.
Before hemp can even be harvested, the plants drop a lot of leaves. 60 to 70 percent of the nutrients return to the soil and thus ensure a healthy soil. Since hemp is mostly grown in areas with a lot of rainfall and groundwater, its production uses less water than other fibers. However, the plant also grows efficiently in arid areas. Unlike synthetic fibers like polyester, hemp is completely biodegradable.
The benefits of Hemp clothing
Hemp is not only good for the environment, but it is also good for us. The breathable fiber keeps you warm in winter and naturally cool in summer - hemp even offers a certain degree of protection against UV rays. The natural fiber is a good choice for people who suffer from allergies and with sensitive skin, as it is usually much better tolerated than other fibers. This has important advantages for women after pregnancy: Our fabrics made from hemp fibers are free of harmful substances and are therefore particularly healthy for mother and child.
Hemp fibers are very durable, the textiles keep their shape for a long time and you will enjoy your clothes for many years. Dare to switch to the fabric of the future today - for your health and for our planet.
